About
Qunnect is a New York-based quantum networking hardware company developing room-temperature quantum memory and entanglement sources for the quantum internet. Founded in 2021 out of Stony Brook University, the company has raised more than 50 million dollars and counts AT&T, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Cisco among its partners. In 2021, Qunnect commercialized the world's first room-temperature quantum memory, the Carina system. Qunnect operates the GothamQ testbed across New York City, a network that spans 300km of commercial telecom fiber across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. The network achieved 99.84% uptime over 15 days and a throughput of 500,000 entangled photon pairs per second. Carina systems have also been deployed at Montana State University for the first Midwest entanglement network. In February 2026, Qunnect and Cisco demonstrated the first metro-scale quantum network with high-speed entanglement swapping over 17.6km of deployed commercial fiber, achieving over 5,400 entangled pairs per hour, nearly 10,000x better than previous benchmarks. In June 2025, Qunnect raised a 10 million dollar Series A extension, bringing total funding above 50 million dollars. In October 2025, it was awarded a US Air Force contract to expand quantum networking infrastructure. The company is also expanding through ABQ-Net in New Mexico, extending its entanglement network beyond the Northeast to serve national defense and research communities.
