About

Welinq develops quantum memory for datacenter-scale quantum networks. Spun out of Laboratoire Kastler Brossel (ENS/Sorbonne), the company builds atomic quantum memory with greater than 90% efficiency and 200 microsecond storage time using room-temperature neutral atoms compatible with the telecoms C-band. Its quantum memory can interconnect superconducting and neutral-atom processors over optical fiber, a building block for the quantum internet. Welinq describes the technology as a "quantum Ethernet port" for linking quantum processors via photonic links. Welinq received EUR 4M in France 2030 funding for a joint project with Pasqal to network quantum computers. In February 2026, Welinq and Pasqal jointly received EUR 4M from France 2030's i-Demo Regionalise program for the InterQo project, which targets interconnected quantum computers in data center environments and aims to link Pasqal neutral-atom QPUs via photonic links, with Welinq contributing the most powerful neutral-atom quantum memory demonstrated to date. Welinq has made its first commercial sale and partnered with QphoX to develop optical interconnects for superconducting quantum computers. In January 2025, Welinq launched AraQne, the first compiler for distributed quantum computing, which partitions large algorithms across networked QPUs. In February 2026, Welinq commercially launched its rack-mounted Entangled Photon Pair Source, delivering the first unit to a leading European institution, with expansion to the USA and Asia planned. Update 2026-04-16: WelinQ co-founders Julien Laurat and Eleni Diamanti earned CNRS Silver Medals for their research.
