Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is an applied research institute founded in 2020 and based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as part of the Advanced Technology Research Council. Its Quantum Research Centre focuses on quantum computing, quantum communications, and quantum cryptography. The institute develops quantum technologies including quantum key distribution systems, quantum secure communications, and quantum computing algorithms, and collaborates with international quantum research institutions and quantum technology companies. TII serves the UAE national quantum strategy and invests in quantum infrastructure, research facilities, and education programs to position the UAE as a quantum technology hub in the Middle East. On February 23, 2026, TII launched cloud access to its in-house superconducting QPUs, ranging from 5 to 25 qubits, using the Qibo open-source framework, making TII the first Middle Eastern institution to offer cloud quantum computing access. The cloud QPUs have coherence times 10 times longer than earlier prototypes. TII integrated Qibo middleware with NVIDIA CUDA-Q in November 2025 for hybrid quantum-classical workflows, and released an in-house quantum solver for large-scale optimisation in logistics, telecoms, finance, and energy. At WEF Davos 2026, TII and the World Economic Forum announced the Abu Dhabi Centre for Frontier Technologies, covering quantum, robotics, space, and AI. TII researchers also advanced six post-quantum cryptography schemes to Round 2 of NIST standardisation.
