Scontel is a Russian manufacturer of superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) based in Moscow. It was spun out of work at Moscow State Pedagogical University and the University of Rochester, where SNSPDs were first developed in 2001. Scontel ships complete photon-counting systems that integrate closed-cycle cryocoolers, NbN and MoSi superconducting nanowire detectors, and bias and amplifier electronics. Its customers work in quantum communications, photonic quantum computing, and quantum optics research worldwide. The company is one of the longest-running commercial SNSPD vendors, alongside Single Quantum, Photon Spot, Quantum Opus, and ID Quantique.
