About
Quantum Diamonds is a Munich-based startup, founded by Kevin Berghoff, Kristina Liu, and Fleming Bruckmaier, that develops commercial quantum sensors based on diamond NV centers. The company creates diamond-based quantum magnetometers and quantum sensing systems for industrial applications, including semiconductor manufacturing, materials characterization, and medical diagnostics. It raised a 3 million euro seed round from IQ Capital and Earlybird for its diamond NV center sensors. In December 2025, Quantum Diamonds raised 152 million euros to build a Munich production facility for its quantum diamond microscopy (QDM) chip inspection systems, co-funded by German and Bavarian government grants under the European Chips Act. Nine of the ten largest semiconductor manufacturers have completed proof-of-concept projects with the company's NV-center devices, which map electrical current at micrometer precision for non-destructive fault isolation in 2.5D and 3D chip packages. The European Commission has cited the company's strategic potential as comparable to ASML.
