About
PQShield is a post-quantum cryptography company spun out of Oxford University. It develops cryptographic algorithms, hardware implementations, and security solutions designed to protect systems against attacks from both classical and quantum computers, covering the work from theory through to deployment. The company serves semiconductor manufacturers, automotive companies, government agencies, and enterprises, offering both cryptographic IP and security consulting. PQShield raised a $37M Series B in June 2024 led by Addition, with backing from Chevron Technology Ventures, Legal & General, and Oxford Science Enterprises, following earlier major rounds in 2023 and 2024. The company unveiled the first PQC-compliant silicon test chip for post-quantum security and completed an external evaluation of ML-KEM for CRYPTREC, Japan's national cryptography standardization body. Clients include AMD, Microchip Technologies, Collins Aerospace, and Lattice Semiconductor. In 2025, PQShield partnered with Carahsoft Technology to distribute NIST-compliant PQC solutions to the US public sector. The same year it was selected as a vetted provider in the UK NCSC PQC Pilot program for 2025 to 2027, certifying it to advise government on PQC migration alongside IBM and Capgemini. Update 2026-04-01: PQShield completed an evaluation of the ML-KEM standard for Japan's cryptographic standardization body, CRYPTREC.
