In April 2025, KETS completed a 1.7 million pound Innovate UK contract to develop a scalable, server-sized QKD prototype for critical infrastructure. BT consulted on the design and is now testing the prototype, and Innovate UK called the company a leader in quantum network components. In November 2025, CEO Lisa Matthews warned that the UK needs a Quantum Sovereign Wealth Fund or risks losing quantum companies, talent, and IP to foreign markets, noting that several UK firms, including PsiQuantum, Universal Quantum, and Oxford Ionics, had shifted operations abroad because of limited domestic scale-up capital.
