About

eleQtron is a German trapped-ion quantum computing company founded in 2020 as a spin-out of the University of Siegen. It builds trapped-ion quantum computers using microwave-based quantum gates, in contrast to the laser-based gates used by IonQ and Quantinuum. This all-microwave control makes the hardware simpler, more compact, and less sensitive to optical alignment. In May 2026, eleQtron raised a EUR 57M Series A led by Schwarz Digits, one of the largest quantum Series A rounds to date, and reported an order backlog above EUR 60M. It builds systems of up to 30 ions, targeting industrial-scale deployment through its MAGIC platform, short for Microwave Addressable Gate Ions for Computing. Its partners include German federal quantum programs and European Quantum Flagship projects. eleQtron is based in Siegen, Germany.
