About

The Berkeley Quantum Synthesis Toolkit (BQSKit) is a portable quantum compiler framework developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. It serves as both an optimizing quantum compiler and a research vehicle, bringing together ideas from several LBNL projects into one accessible and easily extensible software package. As an end-to-end compiling solution, it combines circuit partitioning, synthesis, and instantiation algorithms in a strategy that optimizes circuits well beyond traditional optimizing compilers, and it incorporates the QFAST, QSearch, LEAP, and QFactor tools. BQSKit is available for Python 3.8+ on Linux, macOS, and Windows. It is free and open-source under a BSD license, available on GitHub and PyPI. Version 1.1.2 was released in April 2024, followed by version 1.2.0 in September 2024.
