About
Aquark Technologies is a UK National Quantum Technologies Programme spinout focused on high-precision measurement and quantum sensing. The company develops portable quantum sensors for navigation, timing, and gravimetry applications across the defense, aerospace, and industrial sectors, and it has demonstrated quantum sensing at sea in partnership with the Royal Navy. In September 2024, Aquark raised a €5M seed round led by the NATO Innovation Fund, with MBDA, EIFO, and UKI2S. That same year it trialled its AQuest cold-atom sensor on HMS Pursuer, achieving the first continuous trapping of cold atoms on a Royal Navy vessel. In April 2025, Aquark became the first company to trap cold atoms underwater, demonstrated aboard the RRS Sir David Attenborough (Boaty McBoatface) as part of NERC oceanographic research. In September 2025, a £1.9M Innovate UK Future Leaders Fellowship awarded to Dr Florence Concepcion funded a four-year miniaturisation programme. Investors include Airbus, BAE Systems, Leonardo, and MBDA alongside the NATO Innovation Fund. Update 2026-05-21: Aquark Technologies established a European entity in Denmark and became the first UK company to register at the Niels Bohr Institute.
