About
Aqemia is a pharmatech company founded in 2019 as a deeptech spinoff from Ecole Normale Superieure. It combines quantum-inspired physics algorithms with generative AI to support drug discovery, enabling molecule exploration 10,000 times faster than conventional methods without requiring experimental training data. Its algorithms simulate molecular behavior at high accuracy and speed by training AI models on the physical laws governing molecular structures. In 2024, Aqemia raised 60 million euros in Series A funding led by Cathay Innovation, bringing total funding to over 100 million euros. The funding supports preparation for clinical trials and international expansion, including a new London office that opened in January 2025. The company has three cancer-targeting drug candidates undergoing preclinical animal testing, having reached that stage in under two years, with expectations to move into clinical trials by 2025. Major partnerships include a 140 million dollar collaboration with Sanofi and agreements with Servier and Johnson & Johnson to accelerate oncology drug development through physics-based molecular design.
