About
1QB Information Technologies (1QBit) is a Canadian quantum software company founded in 2012 in Vancouver, and one of the world's first dedicated quantum software companies. It has raised more than $65M and builds hardware-agnostic quantum and quantum-inspired algorithms for financial services, life sciences, and materials. Its platform supports D-Wave, IBM, and gate-model hardware, and it offers HOPE, the Hyperparameter OPtimization Environment, for optimization benchmarking. 1QBit partners with Dow Chemical, Biogen, Accenture, and leading financial institutions on quantum-enhanced optimization and simulation, and has worked with Microsoft Quantum since 2018. The company has shifted to an incubation model, spinning out vertical companies including Synthesise in 2021 and Good Chemistry, a quantum chemistry firm, in 2022. In February 2024, 1QBit was acquired by the Swiss firm Terra Quantum and now operates as part of that group.
