Anderon LLC, an IBM company headquartered at NY Creates’ Albany NanoTech Complex, finalized a $1 billion CHIPS and Science Act award with the U.S. Department of Commerce, and IBM is stacking another $1 billion of its own cash behind the same 300-millimeter line. The IBM newsroom note says the money accelerates R&D for a pure-play quantum wafer foundry that already has first wafers moving, starting with superconducting qubit arrays, quantum I/O, and readout chains. Anderon’s own recap adds the site plan to other modalities later. Mukesh Khare called it manufacturing scale. Jay Gambetta called it the fab IBM’s roadmap has been waiting on.Europe did not wait for Albany’s press photos. Quobly reported readout, single-qubit gates, and two-qubit gates on one QSOI chip built in STMicroelectronics’ commercial 300-millimeter FD-SOI line in Crolles. That is not a million-qubit machine. It is the three operations Daniel Loss said the field has owed the 1998 spin-qubit paper, and Quobly’s press release is honest that wafer-after-wafer copy is now the job.Fraunhofer IPMS, meanwhile, dropped a flexible PVD tool into its 300-millimeter cleanroom and showed NbN and ZrN films with literature-grade superconducting properties under production-like conditions. Read the Fraunhofer IPMS briefing before you call it a foundry. It is a process platform pointed at APECS, SUPREME, and SPINS.In Barcelona, CSIC opened the Quantum Nanofabrication Area inside IMB-CNM’s clean room, more than €6 million of e-beam lithography and nanoscale metrology that Euronews Next framed as “made in Spain” chips and the IMB-CNM inauguration note tied to PERTE Chip and Next Generation EU. Superlatives are cheap. Six million euros of lithography that companies can book is not.Riverlane and Qblox closed a full real-time quantum error correction loop, syndrome extraction through conditional correction, over the open QECi interface. The Riverlane technical note is careful: the qubits were emulated, not a live processor. Fifty thousand cycles still ran on rotated planar surface codes from distance 3 to 9. Round-trip latency moved from 6.886 microseconds on Surface-17 to 11.886 microseconds on Surface-161, all inside a 20-microsecond near-term target. That is a control-and-decoder story, and it is the story buyers now ask for.Infleqtion used an early look at NVIDIA CUDA-Q Logical plus its open-source qLDPC library to construct a hypergraph-product simplex block that encodes 18 logical qubits in 98 physical data qubits, about 5.4 data qubits per logical qubit and an 18.4 percent encoding rate.

ParityQC launched the Parity Twine Optimizer as a catalog function, the same compiler family the co-CEOs say cuts two-qubit overhead and SWAP tax so denser graphs fit Heron and Nighthawk topologies. The ParityQC product note gives you a 30-day trial and a Scott Crowder quote.Aqarios put its Constrained Quantum Optimizer next to it, FlexQAOA with constraints baked in rather than bolted on. On a 144-bit problem with 48 one-hot constraints, five test instances hit the exact optimum three times and landed within about 1 percent twice, per the Aqarios launch post. Q-CTRL widened Fire Opal for every user with native constrained optimization, estimator twirling, and a flag that tells the compiler to stop approximating.The Fire Opal update claims approximation ratios up as much as 500 percent on hard constrained cases and points at IBM’s 156-qubit Heron r3. Fujitsu, not to be left holding a private SDK, open-sourced OpenQARP: more than 100 components, 70-plus building blocks, 20-plus ready algorithms, CUDA-Q compatible, already beta-tested with more than 80 organizations.The Fujitsu open-source note is the one that turns a 130-line ADAPT-VQE script into fewer than 40. If your team still hand-rolls QAOA, these four pages are the homework.IonQ, ORNL, NVIDIA, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville trained a generative model to write distributed QAOA circuits instead of grinding variational knobs for hundreds of iterations. On a dense 100-variable benchmark, answer quality roughly doubled as subproblems grew. Classic tuning ballooned from about 34 seconds at 4 qubits to more than 11 minutes at 12. The generative pass held near 28 seconds at every size they tested. All of it ran as simulation on a single H200 in ORNL’s Defiant2 system, not on a trapped-ion QPU, and the IonQ collaboration note calls it benchmark-scale validation. The same week’s IonQ IEEE QCE26 recap stacks ten accepted papers and four medals on top, including hybrid FEA and logistics numbers. You should read them before you recycle them in a pitch.Oxford Quantum Circuits took the colder tone finance actually wants. After work with Trust Base inside Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group, the OQC finance essay says classical physics-informed nets still win on wall-clock quality today, QPINNs remain a research lane, and amplitude estimation lives or dies on depth, layout, and calibration. Price the surface. Then price Gamma. Then decide if the quantum feature map is worth the wait.Simon Patkovic’s IonQ security essay is the adult PQC piece of the week.
