Quantum Computing Inc. Completes $73.1 Million Acquisition of NHanced Semiconductors

Summarize this article with:
Quantum Computing Inc. Completes $73.1 Million Acquisition of NHanced Semiconductors Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) has completed the acquisition of advanced packaging foundry NHanced Semiconductors, Inc. for a combination of cash and stock valued at $73.1 million. The transaction includes up to an additional $72.0 million in potential payouts if specific performance targets are achieved. The acquisition marks a transition for QCi from research-driven prototyping to scalable commercial manufacturing, establishing a vertically integrated pipeline that spans development through chip fabrication. Moving forward, NHanced will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of QCi, maintaining services for its existing customer base while integrating into QCi’s broader quantum optics and photonics roadmap. The acquisition effectively launches QCi’s “Fab 2” production framework, expanding its manufacturing footprint ahead of its original timeline following the operationalization of its small-scale Fab 1 facility in Tempe, Arizona last year. This expanded infrastructure is designed to accelerate the commercialization and production scaling of QCi’s thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) photonic integrated circuit platform. By securing domestic fabrication assets, the company aims to improve production flexibility, insulate its hardware supply chain, and meet commercial demand for integrated photonic chips used in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, secure telecommunications, and defense systems. Technologically, NHanced’s expertise in 2.5D/3D heterogeneous integration, hybrid bonding, chiplet architectures, and silicon interposers directly complements QCi’s existing TFLN-on-silicon photonics hardware. This manufacturing capability builds upon QCi’s prior integration of Luminar Semiconductor, which brought in-house expertise in laser packaging and light-detection testing. With these combined entities, QCi is expanding its commercial market portfolio to offer contract services and standalone products in semiconductor and nanophotonics manufacturing, laser and detector development, and advanced device packaging.
