PsiQuantum Finalizes $100 Million U.S. Department Of Commerce Award - Pulse 2.0

PsiQuantum has finalized definitive documentation with the U.S. Department of Commerce for a $100 million federal research and development award intended to strengthen U.S. quantum computing capabilities and semiconductor supply-chain security.The funding is being provided through the CHIPS and Science Act and follows a May 2026 letter of intent covering the proposed $100 million award.Combined with PsiQuantum’s own investment in the project, the federal funding will support research, domestic manufacturability, and performance improvements for several critical technologies used in the company’s quantum computing architecture. These include high-performance optical switches, high-temperature single-photon detectors, and advanced semiconductor packaging approaches.PsiQuantum is developing fault-tolerant quantum computers based on silicon photonics and uses existing semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure as part of its strategy for scaling quantum computing systems.The company has been working with GlobalFoundries since 2019 to scale production of quantum photonic chipsets in the United States.PsiQuantum said it invested approximately $200 million with hundreds of U.S. suppliers and vendors across 38 states during 2025, and the Commerce Department award will build on those investments in a domestic supply chain.The award adds to PsiQuantum’s broader relationships with the U.S. government.
