PhD Student (f/m/d) in Quantum Algorithms for Droplet and Bubble Oscillation Dynamics Modelling Application deadline: Thursday, March 19, 2026Employer web page: https://www.hzdr.de/db/Cms?pNid=490&pLang=en&pOid=76871Job type: PhDWe are recruiting a PhD Student (f/m/d) in Quantum Algorithms for Droplet and Bubble Oscillation Dynamics Modelling at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). The position is jointly hosted by the Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS) and the Institute of Fluid Dynamics and focuses on the development of numerical and quantum/hybrid quantum–classical methods for modelling nonlinear droplet and bubble oscillations governed by partial differential equations. The project combines: numerical PDE methods and computational fluid dynamics, variational and hybrid quantum algorithms, high-performance computing and quantum platforms, benchmarking against classical reference simulations and experimental data. The position is part of the larger qFLOW project, a Helmholtz Quantum Use Challenge initiative that develops quantum-enhanced solvers for PDE- and ODE-based models in fluid dynamics and environmental systems. qFLOW brings together HZDR, UFZ, DESY, and Forschungszentrum Jülich to investigate variational quantum methods, tensor network approaches, quantum lattice Boltzmann schemes, and physics-informed machine learning for scientifically relevant flow problems. More information about qFLOW: https://qflow.hzdr.de/ Full job advertisement and application portal: https://www.hzdr.de/db/Cms?pNid=490&pLang=en&pOid=76871 The position is suited for candidates with a background in physics, applied mathematics, computational modelling, or related fields, and experience in numerical PDEs, scientific computing, or quantum algorithms. Applications are submitted via the official HZDR online system. Log in or register to post comments
