The group’s research focuses on the security of quantum cryptographic protocols, in particular quantum key distribution and randomness generation, and their connections to the foundations of quantum theory. Research topic: The project is at the intersection of quantum cryptography and quantum foundations. In particular, it will investigate the role of quantum reference frames in quantum information processing protocols such as quantum key distribution and randomness generation. Requirements: Applicants are expected to have: A master’s degree in physics, mathematics, or computer science (or equivalent qualifications) Familiarity with the mathematical formalism of quantum mechanics Interest in quantum communication and cryptography, in particular its mathematical aspects, and quantum foundations Good verbal and written communication skills Applicants for a postdoc position are additionally expected to have a strong research record in either quantum key distribution or quantum reference frames, and motivation to gain expertise in the other area.
