The project involves building and operating a two-dimensional ion trap experiment for open-system quantum simulations using Rydberg ions, as part of the ERC Synergy project "Open 2D Quantum Simulator" (OPEN-2QS, grant 101164443), in collaboration with groups in Mainz and Tübingen. Candidates should hold a Master's degree in physics (or be near completion), including at least 60 credits of second-cycle coursework and an independent degree project of at least 15 credits, with English proficiency equivalent to Swedish upper-secondary level B.
