Insider BriefPRESS RELEASE — Phasecraft, the world’s leading quantum algorithms company, today announced that the company is bringing together Phasecraft‘s hardware-adaptive ultra-efficient quantum algorithms with NVIDIA AI infrastructure to accelerate the path to fault-tolerant quantum computing.In promising results from an initial collaboration under the Wellcome Leap Q4Bio programme, the companies generated the largest-known Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE) emulated molecular database, consisting of over 3,000 unique emulations across 13 molecular systems. This data-set provides a training foundation for quantum-enhanced molecular modeling, which could accelerate drug discovery at a scale previously out of reach, as quantum hardware develops. As quantum computing hardware continues to improve, these kinds of partnerships enable the industry to drive towards quantum applications in health and life sciences and beyond that will meaningfully improve people’s lives.”“Developing new and more efficient applications is one of the most effective ways to shorten the timeline and expand the possibilities for useful quantum computing,” said Sam Stanwyck, Director of quantum product at NVIDIA. “This work with Phasecraft shows the huge advances that can be made when the world’s leading researchers have access to state-of-the-art accelerated computing.”The companies collaborated as part of the Wellcome Leap Quantum for Bio (Q4Bio) Programme, which sought to answer the question, “What if we could develop new algorithms that deliver quantum advantage for health?” As part of the project, NVIDIA Hopper Architecture was hosted at the University of Nottingham, on which Phasecraft ran large-scale VQE emulations—a hybrid classical-quantum algorithm used to find the ground state of a physical system or molecule.Phasecraft utilized the NVIDIA cuQuantum software developer kit to pair these VQE emulations with training from Phasecraft’s proprietary quantum-enhanced Density Functional Theory (DFT) functionals, the computational modeling method used to calculate the electronic structure of many-body systems like molecules, atoms, and condensed matter.By deploying cuQuantum to scale the simulations across the 4-to-32 qubit range, with the vast majority in the 24–28 qubit regime the combined framework achieved a landmark 15x performance leap over prior results when modeling physical, many-body systems.
