Oxford Quantum Circuits Appoints Simon Phillips as Chief Product Officer

Insider BriefPRESS RELEASE — OQC, a global leader in quantum computing, today announced that Simon Phillips will move into the role of Chief Product Officer, having previously served as Chief Technology Officer. In his new role, Phillips will lead OQC’s product strategy, helping translate the company’s technology roadmap into enterprise-ready products designed to accelerate customer adoption and support OQC’s competitive commercial roadmap.Phillips joined OQC in 2019 and has played a central role in shaping the company’s technology strategy, development roadmap and commercialisation approach. As CTO, he led OQC through a period of significant technical and commercial momentum, including the expansion of its deployed quantum systems into colocation data centres and the development of three generations of systems designed for secure, scalable enterprise environments. An experienced technology executive and entrepreneur, Phillips brings deep expertise in building and scaling technology businesses. Before entering quantum computing, he spent more than two decades in the video games industry, where he worked at the frontier of emerging technology and product-led innovation. At OQC, he has applied that experience to the next major shift in computing: building full stack quantum systems that move beyond research access and into the trusted infrastructure enterprises need to explore real-world applications. The appointment reflects OQC’s focus on productising quantum computing for enterprise and government customers. As quantum moves from long-term promise toward near-term delivery, OQC is prioritising products that combine technical performance, secure deployment, customer usability and operational reliability. Phillips’ move into the Chief Product Officer role will further strengthen the connection between OQC’s technology roadmap, customer requirements and its commercial execution.“Simon has been instrumental in shaping OQC’s technical direction and turning our roadmap into systems that customers can use today,” said Gerald Mullally, CEO of OQC. “As we scale globally, our focus is increasingly on enterprise-ready products: secure, reliable and integrated quantum infrastructure that can break down barriers and accelerate adoption. Simon’s experience across technology, commercialisation and scale makes him ideally placed to lead this next phase.”The announcement follows a period of major momentum for OQC. In June, OQC announced a collaboration with JPMorgan Chase and AMD to develop a new Quantum-AI platform in London, built around a dedicated Quantum-AI Data Centre. The platform will enable JPMorganChase researchers to test near-term quantum and hybrid quantum-classical applications in a secure enterprise environment.OQC also recently closed an oversubscribed £260 million Series C funding round, Europe’s largest ever private funding round for a quantum hardware company. The investment will support OQC’s international expansion, accelerate its technology roadmap and scale its deployed systems in priority markets, as demand grows from enterprise and government customers seeking secure quantum infrastructure.“Quantum computing is entering a new phase,” said Simon Phillips, Chief Product Officer at OQC. “The opportunity now is to turn breakthrough technology into products that enterprises can evaluate, recognise and trust, and adopt. OQC has the architecture, infrastructure and customer partnerships to make that happen. My focus will be on ensuring our product strategy is tightly aligned to customer needs, our competitive roadmap and the commercial reality of bringing quantum into enterprise environments.”OQC’s platform integrates quantum computing with trusted infrastructure and AI supercomputing to support customer breakthroughs across sectors. With systems deployed across key international markets and growing enterprise demand across financial services, defence, security and AI, the company is scaling and commercialising at pace.TopicsShare Get the latest research, company news, and market intelligence every week.
