Novo Nordisk Foundation backs quantum computing and life sciences beyond Denmark - Financial Times

The Novo Nordisk Foundation is expanding its quantum computing and life sciences funding beyond Denmark, targeting global research hubs. This strategic shift aims to accelerate breakthroughs in drug discovery and quantum-enhanced biomedical technologies. A significant portion of the foundation’s €300 million quantum initiative will support international collaborations, focusing on hybrid quantum-classical algorithms for molecular modeling. Partnerships with U.S. and EU institutions are prioritized. The move follows Denmark’s 2025 national quantum strategy but broadens its scope to leverage overseas expertise. Key areas include quantum machine learning for protein folding and CRISPR optimization.
