Meanwhile google needed 97 physical qubits for 1 logical to demonstrate error correction below threshold, so if anything this seems cooked. Like distributed QC aside, what is the maximum number of qubits that one could actually feasibly fit into a SC quantum processor and have it work with full QEC? How many qubits do you think would actually be able to fit in one QPU before one has a wiring problem? It seems to me like the wiring problem would put a hard geometric limit on superconducting QPUs? Like distributed QC aside, what is the maximum number of qubits that one could actually feasibly fit into a SC quantum processor and have it work with full QEC? Cause if the number is something like 10k, even with qLDPC you end up with only 400 logical qubits per processor and then you don't really have something revolutionary no? Meanwhile google needed 97 physical qubits for 1 logical to demonstrate error correction below threshold, so if anything this seems cooked.
