Hamad Bin Khalifa University has formalized a three-year partnership with Quantum Computing Inc. (Nasdaq: QUBT) to expand research and education in quantum computing, sensing and communications. Building on HBKU’s existing work, including the recent establishment of Qatar’s first quantum-safe communication link, the collaboration will provide access to QCi’s Dirac-3 system both on the cloud and through installation in Qatar. “Through this agreement, we are creating new opportunities to further advance quantum research while building the knowledge and skills necessary to support the adoption of quantum technologies across Qatar’s innovation ecosystem,” said Dr. Saif Al-Kuwari, Director of Qatar Center for Quantum Computing at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. The alliance aims to accelerate practical quantum solutions and cultivate the next generation of quantum experts. HBKU and QCi Collaboration: Expanding Quantum Computing Capabilities Quantum Computing Inc. This deployment of the Dirac-3 platform, designed for solving complex optimization problems, bypasses the need for specialized quantum expertise through cloud accessibility. The three-year Framework Agreement between HBKU and QCi establishes a timeline for collaborative efforts, extending beyond a single project and signaling a long-term commitment to quantum computing, sensing and communications. This commitment is particularly focused on providing hands-on experience with quantum technologies for students, researchers and industry partners, while simultaneously identifying new avenues for commercialization and practical application.

Yong Meng Sua, CTO of QCi, emphasized the importance of moving quantum technologies beyond the laboratory setting, stating, “Quantum technologies will have their greatest impact when they move beyond the laboratory and into practical applications that create measurable value for industry and society.” By applying HBKU’s research capabilities and QCi’s technological platform, the collaboration aims to translate theoretical advancements into tangible benefits for both industry and society. The partnership will also focus on educational initiatives designed to inform business and government leaders about the potential of emerging quantum technologies. “One of the most important factors in accelerating quantum adoption is helping business leaders understand where these technologies can create practical value,” said Pouya Dianat, Chief Product Officer of QCi. “Our collaboration with HBKU combines academic excellence, executive education, and industry engagement to help bridge that gap and identify high-impact opportunities for quantum solutions.” Dr. Through this agreement, we are creating new opportunities to further advance quantum research while building the knowledge and skills necessary to support the adoption of quantum technologies across Qatar’s innovation ecosystem. While other quantum journalists focus on IBM's latest chip or which startup just raised $50 million, Rusty's over here writing 3,000-word deep dives on whether quantum entanglement might explain why you sometimes think about someone right before they text you.
