About
NVision is a spin-off from the University of Ulm's Institute of Quantum Optics and Institute of Theoretical Physics. It uses nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond for quantum sensing in medical imaging. The company was founded by Prof. Fedor Jelezko, Prof. Martin Plenio, Prof. Alex Retzker, and Ilai Schwartz (CTO), with Dr. Sella Brosh as CEO. NVision raised a $30 million Series A in June 2023 to deploy quantum-powered hyperpolarizers for MRI imaging, which can enable earlier assessment of cancer treatment. Its technology improves MRI sensitivity through dynamic nuclear polarization using NV centers in diamond, connecting quantum physics with clinical medicine. In May 2026, NVision raised a $55M Series B led by Abbott, bringing total funding to about $120M, and expanded beyond sensing into quantum computing. Its new PIQC platform integrates organic molecular qubits onto photonic chips for drug discovery and validation, with deployments planned at centers including Memorial Sloan Kettering, the University of Cambridge, and TU Munich. Update 2026-05-14: NVision deployed its POLARIS quantum sensor at 20 cancer centers worldwide this year. Source: https://quantumzeitgeist.com/nvisions-polaris-deployment-cancer-centers-worldwide/
