About
Alpine Quantum Technologies (AQT) is an Austrian trapped-ion quantum computing company, founded in 2018 as a spinout from the University of Innsbruck and the Austrian Academy of Sciences. AQT operates cloud-accessible trapped-ion quantum computers with 12 algorithmic qubits and partners with European research institutions through the OpenSuperQ and QSolid programs. Based in Innsbruck, AQT supplies trapped-ion systems to national laboratories and offers remote cloud access with sub-millisecond gate times and single-qubit gate fidelity above 99%, making it a key supplier for European quantum testbeds. In November 2025, the company's 12-qubit IBEX Q1 system, a calcium-40 ion trap that runs at room temperature in a rack form factor, was added to Amazon Braket with full connectivity. In February 2026, AQT partnered with Scaleway for European sovereign quantum cloud access. In May 2026, AQT launched the LYNX Series, reaching a Quantum Volume of 32,768, a European record for a universal quantum computer, with first units going to strategic partners in late 2026. Update 2025-08-31: The QCDC project, led by Alpine Quantum Technologies, now provides European researchers with access to cloud-based quantum computing.
