Chase has quietly unveiled a new feature that’ll give cardholders more confidence that they’re getting the best price when booking through Chase’s travel portal. The issuer has added a price match guarantee for prepaid hotel bookings on its travel portal, similar to Capital One’s price drop protection in its travel portal. As of March 18, 2026, the price-matching feature is in beta and available to a select group of Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ cardholders, Chase confirmed to NerdWallet. The issuer said the feature would also roll out to the consumer version of that card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, but did not share details on timing or availability for other cards. The terms and conditions of the price match guarantee also mention the JPMorgan Reserve as an eligible card, suggesting there could be a wider rollout.Here’s what you need to know about the program so far. How the price match guarantee worksTo qualify for the price match guarantee in Chase’s travel portal, you must have an eligible Chase credit card and make a prepaid hotel booking through an account connected to your eligible card. Bookings must be made at least 24 hours before check-in time.To receive a price match, you’ll need to submit a claim within 24 hours of booking that includes a screenshot of a cheaper room rate. A valid claim must match your original reservation exactly, including your room and bed types, the cancellation policy and the number of guests. The competing room rate must be in U.S. dollars, and the difference in nightly rates must be more than $5. Keep in mind that not all room rates are eligible for price match, such as non-public rates that are only available if you meet certain criteria. For example, you wouldn’t be able to price match using a cheaper room rate you found through American Express’ travel portal. Cheaper rates for hotel loyalty program members are also excluded.After you submit your claim, Chase will independently verify it and, if approved, refund the difference to your original payment method within one to two billing cycles.Why Chase’s price match guarantee mattersChase cardholders have long complained about higher prices when booking through Chase’s travel portal. But this feature offers some reassurance that you can get a partial refund if you find a lower rate elsewhere.Some online users have also reported success with submitting a price match for properties in The Edit, Chase’s collection of luxury properties. When you book through The Edit, you also have access to extra perks, like potential room upgrades, complimentary breakfast and a $100 amenity credit.In a recent NerdWallet analysis comparing the cost of booking The Edit properties through Chase or directly through the hotel's member rate, 68 out of the 94 properties were more expensive when booked through Chase’s The Edit. Price matching typically excludes lower, non-public rates such as hotel member pricing. But for Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ cardholders with access, this feature could still be a way to offset higher public rates.
