⚡ Quantum Brief
Applied Materials’ Semiconductor Products Group President Prabu Raja revealed intense global demand for chip manufacturing tools during the March 2026 Morgan Stanley conference, citing frequent engagements with Asian customers and governments. Raja, a 30-year company veteran, emphasized his role in shaping semiconductor equipment strategies, highlighting leadership in PVD and integrated product divisions as critical to addressing industry challenges. Government involvement in semiconductor supply chains emerged as a key trend, with Raja noting unprecedented policy-driven interest in securing domestic chip production capabilities. Customer feedback indicates persistent bottlenecks in advanced node production, particularly in materials deposition and patterning, driving Applied Materials’ R&D focus. Jet-lagged but optimistic, Raja underscored the urgency of scaling solutions, reflecting the sector’s rapid evolution and geopolitical pressures reshaping semiconductor infrastructure.

Sometimes I think I spend more time in the flights than at home. And recently I had been to multiple customers throughout Asia and also the governments -- right now, governments want to be talking about semiconductor. So the good news is I have a lot of valuable feedback from the customers on the demand, where they are, the challenges. And the bad news is I sleep about 3 hours these days.
