Why is AI so much more hyped than Quantum Computing?

Summarize this article with:
I’ve been thinking about the state of the world for a while now. Trust me this question has relevance. What boggles my mind though is how everyone is hyping up AI and its ability to literally make the worst entertainment possible. Then I thought about the piece of tech that’s actually scary, quantum computing, and I’m simply just wondering, why is everyone talking about AI slop and not all about our passwords becoming obsolete overnight? I understand that AI has a bit more relevance seeing as it is producing “results” right now. But that still doesn’t make sense to me, it’s only producing “results” because of the billions of dollars being thrown at it and all of these Data Centres, would Quantum Computing not make just as much, if not more progress than AI if they had a competitive funding? (Perhaps they already have funding that is considered competitive? Although I doubt that seeing as we hear about investments that are the same value as a small countries economy into AI.) I don’t like to put on my tin foil hat, but like is there an intentional distraction going on by the media focusing on AI “content” rather than the development of computers that can see the future? submitted by /u/Current-Crab-423 [link] [comments]
