Thailand Launches Quantum Club Thailand to Support Quantum Technology Development

Insider BriefThailand launched a national quantum technology collaboration platform called “Quantum Club Thailand” in Bangkok on August 3, 2026.The platform combines the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Charoen Pokphand Group, Arise, True Corporation, QTRic, and qBraid, a US-based quantum software provider. Its stated goal is to connect research from laboratories to practical industrial applications and to build the knowledge base and workforce needed to support future growth of the quantum economy.The platform is structured around four strategic missions intended to cover the full digital ecosystem:To produce concrete results, the platform is designed as an “execution platform” built around three main projects:The report states that in its first phase, the platform will focus on four areas of expertise: quantum optimization, quantum simulation and digital twins, quantum AI, and quantum security, the latter aimed at preparing for future cyber threats.Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, said quantum technology will be an important mechanism for improving the country’s competitiveness. He said the ministry is focused on workforce development alongside accelerating the movement of research from the laboratory into real economic value. Wongsawat added that quantum remains a technology that carries risk, and that many organizations have not yet committed fully to investing in it, positioning the collaboration as a way to help overcome that hesitation.Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, Chairman of the Executive Board of Arise Ventures Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of True Corporation, said the transition to the quantum era is not only a technological advance but a shift that will shape the country’s long-term competitiveness. “The most important thing in the transition is not the computer or data center, but ‘people.’ Technology can be provided, but personnel who create new technology must rely on continuous investment and development. Thailand must change from a country that follows technology to a co-creator. Great innovation comes from the cooperation of experts from various fields,” he said, as cited by the outlet.Mr. Ekaraj Panjavinin, Head of Research and Innovation at True Corporation, said True is prepared to bring its smart network and digital ecosystem capabilities to the collaboration to help transform real business-sector problems into tangible commercial innovations, according to the report.According to the source, QTRic contributes a knowledge base that includes more than 80 quantum technology prototypes and a network of more than 120 researchers, alongside international expertise from qBraid.
