The bare walls of the centre were begging for colour, and I thought it would be stimulating to work with an artist on some quantum-based artwork to make the space more inspiring for students and scientists alike. This unassuming initiative encountered formidable obstacles in the form of questioning, or flat-out refusal, of funding, contradictory requirements from various public art committees, and a university-wide policy banning framing.
