Quantinuum also announced a deal with Qatar's Al Rabban Capital in what officials said could be a $1 billion joint venture over the next 10 years. In 2021, Honeywell merged its Quantum Solutions business with Cambridge Quantum, forming Quantinuum. Honeywell remains the majority shareholder in Quantinuum, owning 52% of shares. Other Quantinuum investors include JPMorgan Chase, Amgen and Mitsui & Co.
Quantum Computing Stocks: SPAC Deals Coming Further, photonic quantum computing firm Xanadu in November announced plans to go public via a SPAC deal with Crane Harbor Acquisition (CHAC). Special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, raise money in an initial public offering with the purpose of acquiring companies. Startup Infleqtion also plans to go public via a SPAC deal with Churchill Capital Corp X. IonQ, Rigetti and D-Wave went public via the SPAC route in 2021 and 2022. On the stock market today, Honeywell stock rose 1.8% to 213.75 in early trading. An industrial conglomerate, the Charlotte, N.C.-based company has been reviewing strategic options for its businesses. It plans to split into three companies. Honeywell makes everything from pharmaceutical packaging to aircraft landing gear. Its warehouse and workflow solutions business serves the transportation, warehouse and logistics markets. So far in 2026, D-Wave Quantum (RGTI) shares have climbed roughly 8%. Quantum Computing (QUBT) has popped about 11%. Quantum computing works on a subatomic level and uses exotic technologies, like supercold superconductor chips. Quantum computing aims to solve problems too complex for today's classical computers, such as simulating chemical reactions. Traditional computers use electronic circuits to store information as digital zeros and ones. Instead, quantum machines rely on processors known as "qubits." Join IBD Live For Stock Ideas Each Morning Before The Open Qubit-based computing can be prone to errors from small environmental disturbances and other factors. For quantum computing to reach its potential, logical qubits will require robust error correction. The race is on to build "fault-tolerant" quantum computers that scale up and correct errors, allowing for complex, sustained calculations. There are many approaches to quantum computing, including qubit technologies that use superconducting, ion-trapped, annealing and photonic methods. Quantinuum uses trapped-ion quantum computing technology.
Honeywell Stock Technical Ratings While the number of public quantum computing stocks is growing, the companies face stiff competition from IBM (IBM), Google-parent Alphabet (GOOGL) and Microsoft (MSFT). Quantum computing stocks have been volatile since late 2024 when a Google announcement sparked a big rally. However, uncertainty over commercialization and competition from tech industry giants have been key issues. Nvidia has offered differing views. Meanwhile, Honeywell stock holds an Accumulation/Distribution Rating of C. That institutional ownership rating analyzes price and volume changes in a stock over the past 13 weeks of trading. A+ signifies heavy institutional buying; E means heavy selling. Think of a C grade as neutral. Further, Honeywell stock holds an IBD Composite Rating of 85 out of a best possible 99. IBD's Composite Rating is a blend of key fundamental and technical metrics to help investors gauge a stock's strengths. The best growth stocks have a Composite Rating of 90 or better.
