The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). Q-SCALAR is a five-year research project aimed at developing the next generation of quantum communication protocols by combining multipartite entanglement, graph states, quantum networks, quantum error correction, and quantum cryptography. The successful candidate will develop analytical and numerical methods for quantum information processing and investigate novel quantum error-correcting codes and communication protocols. The project offers opportunities for close collaboration with leading national and international academic researchers as well as industrial partners working on the development of future quantum technologies. Depending on the research direction, the successful candidate may have opportunities to interact with: T-Labs (Deutsche Telekom, Germany) ID Quantique (Switzerland) QuiX Quantum (Netherlands) QC Design (Germany) The planned research is also closely connected to collaborations with experimental groups in photonic quantum technologies, offering opportunities to contribute to research with direct experimental relevance. The successful candidate will have opportunities to publish in leading international journals and present their research at international conferences. How to apply? Please find the full position description, application requirements, and the online application form here: University of Münster application portal Application deadline: 6 September 2026 Expected starting date: October 2026 (or as soon as possible). If you have any questions in advance, please contact Prof. Zahra Raissi (zahra.raissi@uni-muenster.de). About the University of Münster The University of Münster is one of the strongest research-oriented universities in Germany, bringing together more than 7,000 employees engaged in internationally recognized research and teaching within an interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will join the Department for Quantum Technology, which brings together researchers working across quantum information, quantum communication, photonic quantum technologies, quantum engineering, and related areas. About Münster Münster is consistently ranked among Germany's most livable cities and is well known for its safe, welcoming, and international atmosphere. Famous as Germany's bicycle capital, it offers an exceptional quality of life, excellent public transportation, and a vibrant student community, making it an ideal place to pursue doctoral studies.
