FY2028: Deploy a 10,000-qubit-class optical quantum system to conduct Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects with industry partners across finance, manufacturing, and energy sectors. FY2029: Release a unified software platform enabling hybrid quantum-classical computing execution and validate end-user applications. FY2030: Realize a fault-tolerant, 1-million-qubit-class optical quantum computer for commercial production. Spun out of the University of Tokyo’s Furusawa Laboratory in 2024, OptQC operates its first optical quantum processing unit, “MoQuren,” at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology’s (AIST) G-QuAT facility, serving as a key module for Japan’s ABCI-Q quantum-classical hybrid infrastructure. By leveraging room-temperature optical entanglement, time-domain multiplexing, and NTT’s optical amplification and wave-guided light sources, the alliance aims to overcome cryogenic and scaling barriers inherent to solid-state modalities.
