Need Help and advices

I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Embedded Systems and I’m curious whether it’s realistic to focus my dissertation on Quantum Computing and later pursue a PhD in the same field. Has anyone here made a similar transition? What background knowledge or additional coursework would you recommend before applying for a PhD in Quantum Computing?
