It aims to determine both the current capacity to preserve the quantum features of the transferred states and to investigate strategies, supported by machine learning techniques, to minimize the detrimental effects of the optical fiber transmission on entangled states. The principal investigator of the project is Prof.

Tony John George Apollaro of the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, in collaboration with the Department of Communications and Computer Engineering, Faculty of ICT. Applicants must be in possession of a first degree or a Master’s degree or a PhD in Computing Science, Computer Engineering, or related areas. Applicants must have experience in software development, particularly using the C/C++ and Python languages, and the use of version control (e.g. git). Prior experience with API protocols (e.g. REST, sockets, MQTT, etc.), GPU programming, performance optimisation of code, and QKD protocols would be considered an advantage. The initial remuneration per annum, inclusive of any cost-of-living adjustment, shall be €27,207 (For the Master’s position), or €30,327 (For the PhD position), or €36,692 (For the Postdoc position).
