Infleqtion Names Dr. Joseph Buck Senior Vice President of Quantum Computing Systems

Dr. Buck joined the company July 27, 2026, and will lead development of Sqale, Infleqtion‘s scalable neutral-atom quantum computer.Dr. Buck joined Infleqtion from Lockheed Martin, where he served as senior fellow at the Advanced Technology Center. He has spent 23 years building quantum, optical, and photonic systems for government, defense, and commercial customers, work that began with his Ph.D. in physics from the California Institute of Technology, where his doctoral research trapped single neutral atoms inside high-finesse optical cavities, the physics that underpins neutral-atom quantum computing today. He has authored more than 60 technical publications, holds an extensive patent portfolio, and has carried technologies from research into fielded products, including commercialized polarization gratings and advanced optics manufacturing methods.“The era of proving quantum science is over. Its fault-tolerant, neutral-atom quantum computer is planned for delivery to the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park in 2027.
