The partnership will focus on investigating the application of quantum-related technologies across aspects of BWT Alpine Formula One Team’s operation and security systems. Carlos Moreira, SEALSQ's CEO explained to Yahoo Finance's Ramzan Karmali how his firm's technology will help the motor racing team as it gears up for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Video Transcript 00:00 Speaker A we are announcing a quantum technology integration into the Alpine team. You know, quantum security is there to secure things and post quantum security is what we do and those new generation of cars they need to be highly secure. not only the car itself, physically security, but also the communication of the car with their teams and all the interaction that that created. So we have a two years partnership starting today that will incrementally add quantum technology in the modus operandi of the of the F1 Alpine team.00:41 Speaker A So that goes into encrypting the channel of communication between the pilot and the team, that is also uh securing the uh data that is being collected in clouds. Uh we have done that before for the America's Cup, you know, our company did that for uh Alinghi, the Swiss thing with the ultra high speed boats. and now we are entering into the Formula one. So we like to get involved into extreme uh applications of this technology.01:17 Speaker B Do you think this will make Alpine a better team? They've not had a great season so far.01:23 Speaker A Yeah, they actually they they're coming with a new setup for next year. I think they already say this season is a transition system. But but for us is I mean, obviously, uh this is not going to make them win, but they're going to make them be more secure. and that's is a element to win. I think next year is going to be a much better year. They have a new engine and um, you know, they have high expectation. For us was actually to federate the French technology as CLSQ is a French company. and uh we are also doing a lot of investment in quantum which are also French companies. So it was a way to build an ecosystem that that can demonstrate how this technology can be used uh in in many new applications.02:05 Speaker B There are a lots of big tech names that are getting involved in Formula one right now. Uh what do you think makes your involvement different to those?02:11 Speaker A So we are a leading edge quantum security company. There's a lot of legacy names obviously on technology, but the reason CLSQ has been uh growing so fast this year, we we reach $1 billion dollar mark cap was because we develop a new uh quantum chip which basically defend a quantum attack. So quantum computers they are coming in the next three to five years. Those are very powerful uh computational devices and they will have the capability of breaking RSA or triple desk. So that that has communication in everything on your mobile phone, on your sensors, on your crypto. So the the entire industry is now moving towards becoming quantum resilient and there's new guideline by the US government with the N the uh the CNCA 2.0, which is the new regulation that says basically that the entire industry needs to start to become quantum resistant uh by the year 2027 and by the year 2030, they need to be fully uh equipped with this technology so they can defend a quantum attack.03:07 Speaker A So, um, you know, in in any industry, imagine everything is based on RSA. This is a 50 years old algorithm, uh which is reaching now retirement age. and uh this new quantum security is replacing that algorithm. So the the the consequences are global in all the industries. And obviously sport is not a differ a difference, right? A sport, it also needs to be secure against that potential threat.03:30 Speaker B You know, you talk there about quantum getting involved with sport. We know that AI is also pretty involved in F Formula one especially with the sensors. Uh, who's to say that the AI and quantum together can't replace the drivers?03:44 Speaker A Yeah, actually that's a total potential uh situation and scenario. I think AI is learning very fast. So AI basically mimics the behavior of anything including pilots. Uh AI will now be boosted by quantum. Quantum will accelerate AI, so AI becomes EGI, a general intelligent and we are talking about a few years, actually 2030 is the uh common denominator for AGI to emerge. So uh those sensors, actually that's what we put, we put chips on sensors and they connect between themselves and they exchange information. That information is analyzed by AI. So the AI algorithm can uh detect predictability analysis on potential threats or also improving behavior, right? So, um obviously I would prefer a human in the car because the emotional part that that brings is not replicable in AI, right? AI will be cars, like we're going to have robots. But this is where we are going, right? is uh I think Elon Musk is saying that he's going to be 8 billion robots. Uh many of them they are going to be car robots.
