The computer currently has a 10-qubit capacity and is accessible via the JuDoor cloud platform, with ParTec, ParityQC, and HQS Quantum Simulations being the first users outside Jülich’s infrastructure to participate in the two-week test run.Founded in 2022, QSolid has a budget of €76.3 million ($87.8m) and aims to make Germany a world leader in the quantum computing industry by developing both a supply chain and ecosystem for the technology. The Jülich Supercomputing Centre is contributing to two out of the project’s eleven work packages. Other project partners include Eviden, GlobalFoundries, IQM, ParTec, alongside a number of German universities.“It is an outstanding achievement by our team to have succeeded in building a complete prototype from scratch,” said Frank Wilhelm-Mauch, coordinator of QSolid. “From the chip upwards, it consists of hardware developed at Forschungszentrum Jülich. In addition, another prototype will be launched in January. The feedback from our first users will now be crucial to further optimize the quantum computer.”He added: “The system integration serves as a blueprint for developing a German quantum computer.
