EY expands quantum computing with on-site system for enterprise AI News | July 30, 2026 By Asma Adhimi EY is expanding its quantum computing capabilities with the installation of an on-site quantum computer at EY Canada, marking another step in the professional services firm’s more than US$3 billion investment in AI and next-generation technologies. The company says the new infrastructure will support highly sensitive enterprise workloads, including optimization, fraud detection, data protection and large-scale risk management. It also underlines the growing convergence of quantum computing and AI, an area expected to create new opportunities for hardware vendors, software developers and enterprise technology providers. Moving quantum closer to enterprise deployment The new quantum capability gives EY greater control over where sensitive data is processed and managed, an increasingly important consideration for organizations operating under strict regulatory and security requirements. According to the company, owning the infrastructure in-house also enables more extensive testing, refinement and validation of quantum-enabled applications before they are deployed for clients. Rather than focusing solely on experimentation, EY says the system will help customers gain practical experience with quantum technologies while exploring applications in forecasting, optimization and decision intelligence. The investment is part of the company’s broader strategy to combine AI with emerging computing platforms capable of tackling problems beyond the reach of classical systems. As the technology reaches its full potential over the next five years, it’s critical for global business leaders seeking competitive advantage to hone their data readiness and build strong foundations of data, trust, and governance in preparedness for the quantum age.” Canada leads global quantum initiative The initiative is being led by EY Canada, which the company positions as a key innovation hub for quantum computing across its global network. As part of the rollout, EY is expanding its “Client Zero” approach by developing and testing quantum-enabled applications internally before making them available to customers. Biren Agnihotri, EY Canada Chief Technology Officer, said: “This announcement shifts the conversation on quantum computing from concept to practical use for clients across markets. Quantum computing has the ability to solve complex challenges that classical computing alone cannot address. By combining local and global talent, ecosystem collaboration and leading-edge in-house quantum infrastructure, EY teams are improving how organizations translate quantum innovation into real-world solutions.” The investment also builds on EY’s recent quantum patent and is intended to strengthen the company’s ability to identify commercial use cases that deliver measurable business value.
