With this grant, EPB created a new Quantum Computing Fellowship to provide training and real-world experience. The company says this will benefit EPB customers and the community. “This critical investment in workforce development will prepare a highly skilled workforce to lead the quantum future and keep Chattanooga’s innovation ecosystem on the cutting edge,” said EPB President and CEO-elect Janet Rehberg. The $4 million comes from a National Institute of Standards and Technology grant, which EPB was awarded in 2024. The fellowship program was created in collaboration with IonQ, a leading company in quantum computing.Last year, EPB also brought an IonQ Forte Enterprise quantum computer to the EPB Quantum Center in downtown Chattanooga.
