U.S. wheat futures declined Monday, with Chicago SRW contracts mixed (front months down 1–3¢, back months up), while Kansas City HRW dropped 2¾–7½¢ and Minneapolis spring wheat fell 1¼–2¼¢. Crop Progress data showed 7% of U.S. winter wheat headed—above the 5-year average—but only 35% rated good/excellent, below analyst estimates (42%) and last year’s 48%. The Brugler500 index hit 298, 30 points lower than 2025’s start and the 7th weakest since 1990, signaling poor early-season conditions. Weekly export inspections fell 13.5% from last week to 334,106 MT, with Mexico the top buyer; year-to-date shipments are down 16.6% annually. Rainfall forecasts predict up to 1 inch in the Southern Plains, potentially aiding drought-stressed crops in Texas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.
