Open interest rose by 9,917 contracts, signaling mixed market sentiment despite recent volatility. The USDA’s Prospective Plantings report revealed 84.7 million soybean acres for spring 2026, up 3.5 million year-over-year but 787,000 acres below trade estimates, surprising analysts. March 1 soybean stocks hit 2.105 billion bushels, a 194-million-bushel annual increase and above Bloomberg/Reuters forecasts by 19–38 million bushels, indicating higher-than-expected supply. Cash prices averaged $10.95 nationally, up 8.25 cents, while soymeal and soyoil futures rose modestly, reflecting mixed demand across soybean products. Nearby contracts (May/July/Nov 2026) saw early-week gains but retreated Wednesday, with May soybeans down 8.5 cents after closing at $11.71.
