Three AI-focused companies—OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo—secured 83% of February’s record $189 billion in global VC funding, with OpenAI alone raising $110 billion at a $730 billion valuation. AI startups dominated the month, claiming $171 billion (90%) of total venture capital, tripling January’s global VC spending and signaling accelerating investment in the sector. OpenAI’s $110 billion round, one of history’s largest private raises, dwarfed Anthropic’s $30 billion Series G ($380 billion valuation) and Waymo’s $16 billion ($126 billion valuation). The combined $156 billion raised by these three firms equals one-third of 2025’s total $425 billion VC spending, per Crunchbase data, underscoring their outsized market influence. February’s surge reflects a concentrated bet on AI, with just three players reshaping venture capital allocation and valuations at unprecedented scale.
