USDA data showed 161,101 bales of old-crop cotton sold in the week ending April 9—down 6-week lows but 40% above last year—led by Vietnam (62,100 bales) and Turkey (49,000 bales). Shipments hit a 4-week low at 305,029 bales, with Vietnam as the top destination (110,400 bales), followed by Pakistan (35,900 bales), signaling shifting global demand patterns. The Cotlook A Index dropped 20 points to 85.60 cents/lb, while ICE certified stocks rose to 162,367 bales, reflecting mixed supply-side pressures amid bullish futures momentum. Macro factors included a stronger dollar ($98.035) and crude oil’s $1.90 gain, potentially influencing cotton’s price trajectory as commodity markets react to broader economic trends.
