Cotton futures declined across contracts on March 23, 2026, with May, July, and December 2026 contracts dropping 13, 2, and 12 points respectively, closing at 67.18, 69.31, and 71.84 cents per pound. Geopolitical tensions eased after a Trump Truth Social post delayed U.S. strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure for five days, citing "productive" talks, though Iran denied direct contact. Crude oil plunged $9.36 amid the shift. The Cotlook A Index fell 110 points to 78.25 cents on March 20, while ICE-certified cotton stocks remained flat at 115,640 bales. The Adjusted World Price rose 2.72 cents to 54.22 cents per pound. The U.S. dollar index weakened by $0.549 to $98.910, potentially influencing commodity pricing. The Seam reported 417 bales sold at an average 62.42 cents per pound on March 20. Analysts debate cotton’s trajectory, with bearish sentiment dominating as seasonal trends and geopolitical risks weigh on markets.
