Corn futures partially rebounded from overnight lows on April 8, 2026, but still closed down 1¾ to 3½ cents, with cash prices averaging $4.08, a 1½-cent drop. Crude oil plunged $16.45 after a US-Iran ceasefire reopened the Strait of Hormuz, easing supply concerns and pressuring energy-linked commodities like ethanol. Ethanol production rose to 1.116M barrels/day, up 41,000 bpd, while exports hit 203,000 bpd, though refinery inputs fell slightly, signaling mixed demand signals. Analysts expect Thursday’s WASDE report to show a 3M-bushel increase in US corn carryout to 2.13B bushels and a 0.4MMT rise in global stocks to 293.2MMT. South Korea bought 266,000 MT of corn in overnight tenders, though origins remain undisclosed, ahead of key USDA export sales data due Thursday.
