Corn futures surged 4–7 cents on March 6, 2026, with March contracts at $4.45½ and July reaching $4.69¾, reflecting strong upward momentum in commodity markets. Crude oil’s $10.10 midday gain provided spillover support, boosting agricultural commodities as energy prices climbed, reinforcing broader market trends. U.S. corn export commitments hit 64.982 MMT (78% of USDA projections), exceeding average sales pace, while actual exports (40.024 MMT) surpassed the 40% shipping average, signaling robust demand. Brazil’s February corn exports rose 9.34% year-over-year to 1.55 MMT but fell short of January’s totals, while Argentina’s early harvest progress reached 7.2% with a 57 MMT crop estimate. Cash corn prices averaged $4.16 nationally, up 4¼ cents, as speculative interest in grain futures grew amid tightening global supply and energy-driven inflation pressures.
