Apple is launching a revamped video podcast experience this spring, enabling seamless switching between audio and video episodes within its Podcasts app, directly competing with YouTube and Spotify’s growing video offerings. The update introduces offline downloads and expanded creator tools, including video ad insertion for host-read spots, tapping into the broader video advertising market for monetization. Platform support spans iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro, and web browsers, marking a cross-device push to dominate the evolving podcast landscape beyond traditional audio. Apple’s move reflects the industry shift toward video-first content, as audiences increasingly prefer watching podcasts, forcing platforms to adapt or risk losing creators and listeners. Partnerships with hosting providers like Acast, ART19, and Omny Studio will facilitate ad integration, giving creators new revenue streams while maintaining control over their content distribution.
