About
Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel) is a Singaporean telecommunications conglomerate founded in 1879 and headquartered in Singapore. It explores quantum technologies including quantum key distribution (QKD) for secure communications and quantum networking infrastructure. Singtel works with the Centre for Quantum Technologies and other quantum research institutions to advance practical quantum communications deployments across the Asia-Pacific region. The company invests in quantum-safe security to prepare its telecommunications infrastructure for post-quantum cryptography and quantum network development, and it serves enterprise customers, government agencies, and critical infrastructure sectors that need quantum-safe communications. In August 2024, Singtel launched Southeast Asia's first nationwide Quantum-Safe Network (NQSN+), mandated by Singapore's IMDA. The network integrates Palo Alto Networks PQC IPSec VPN, Fortinet hybrid PQC and QKD, and IDQ Clarion KX management to provide quantum-safe connectivity across Singapore's critical infrastructure. Through this work Singtel positions Singapore as a quantum communications hub and prepares for quantum internet infrastructure.
