Quantum Leap Africa (QLA) is an information science and quantum technology research center founded in 2018 by the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), located in Rwanda. It carries out high-impact research in big data analytics, data science, smart systems design, and quantum information technology, positioning Africa to solve critical development problems through research. QLA trains the next generation of African innovators in information science and technology and runs experimental work on quantum prototypes developed with leading centers, including the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo and major global companies such as IBM. Funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and other partners, QLA is mandated to develop Africa's quantum capabilities. It was featured in the World Economic Forum's Quantum Economy Blueprint, representing Africa's quantum ambitions on the global stage.
